Tradiciones en la boda
Respetando costumbres ancestrales, o por superstición, seguir algunas tradiciones en la boda es un tema al que se le pone atención. Algunas son mas conocidas que otras, como llevar algo viejo, algo nuevo y algo prestado; tirar el ramo de la novia asegurando una próxima boda a la afortunada que lo alcance, o bailar el vals de los novios. Pero hay algunas otras que si bien se siguen, no se sabe muy bien por qué o para qué.
Posición de los novios en el altar
La costumbre de que la novia se ubique a la izquierda de su futuro esposo se remonta a los tiempos medievales o incluso antes. Por aquellos tiempos eran muy frecuentes las bodas en secreto, muchas veces después del rapto de la novia, así que el novio tenía que tener su espada del lado accesible durante la ceremonia, por si se presentaba algún familiar disgustado antes de la declaración "marido y mujer".
No ver a la novia antes del matrimonio
En los tiempos en que los matrimonios eran arreglados entre las familias, una novia poco agraciada se beneficiaba con el hecho de que su novio, de otro pueblo o aldea, no la viera hasta el momento de la ceremonia, para no correr el riesgo de que la dejara plantada. De ahí que se considera de mala suerte que él te vea antes de la boda. (Y si era a ella que no le gustaba el novio…?)
El beso era el modo usual de sellar un contrato en la Antigua Roma. Hasta el día de hoy, se formaliza la unión con un beso.
La alfombra roja
La alfombra roja que se coloca en la iglesia a la entrada del cortejo, representa honor y respeto. Los pétalos que se arrojan abriéndole camino a la novia, simbolizan un futuro dulce y pleno.
